<p><strong><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" color="#ff0000">Torgwen</font></strong> is the traditional music area broadly covering Torfaen and the more general Gwent and nearby areas.</p><p>When it comes to music and other trad activities in this area there is no clear boundary either in place or content of what you might find!</p><p>People travel from Ledbury, Newent, Gloucester, Usk, Chepstow, Cwmbran and Abergavenny for a session in the Queen's Head in Monmouth for example!</p><p>Sessions are spread out and some are more regular than others, and preferred music is mostly Irish and Welsh but you can also hear Cajun! Also the area has a variety of dance groups varying from Welsh Folk Dance to Morris, World Dance and Appalachian.</p><p>The main event of the year in this area is Tredegar House Folk Festival which attracts international dancers, musicians and singers. Tredegar House is also home to Marcus Music where you can buy your concertinas, bodhrans, music etc.</p><p>Torfaen Traditional Music have now held two weekend events in May 2005 and May 2006 with workshops, concert and sessions around Cwmbran and Pontypool. </p><p>Fran</p><p>May 22nd, 2006 <br/></p><p/> |
